On this page you will find information about and links to a number of trade union education and training projects.
Many of them are promoting and using information and communication technologies.

ICT
  • The TRACE Project – Trade Unions Anticipating Change in Europe
    TRACE is a large-scale project, aiming to build improved capacity within European trade unions to respond to situations of economic and industrial change and to defend the interests of working men and women facing this challenge. Supported by the European Social Fund, it uses a variety of innovative approaches, ranging from formal training activities to networking activities between communities of practice, to develop the knowledge, skills and understandings of trade union officers and representatives to anticipate, prepare for and accompany large-scale restructuring. Led by the European Trade Union College, TRACE involves 19 partners from EU 10 member states, drawn principally from European Industry Federations and national trade union confederations. The TRACE Project began in November 2004 and will finish in November 2006.
  • Dialog-On
    Dialog-On had 2 main strands of activity - Building European Trade Union Online Networks and Using Information Society Tools for European Trade Union Training - with additional activities on Web Portals.
    The two main strands developped and piloted a series of innovative and flexible training modules and trained trainers to deliver these, before embarking on a series of multiplier activities which took place both within and beyond the project framework. (November 2001- February 2004).
  • Improving Transatlantic Dialogue - The World of Work
    This project intends to contribute to an improvement in transatlantic dialogue between trade union workplace representative on both sides of the Atlantic within the context of a joint EU-US action plan Building Bridges Across the Atlantic which underlines a commitment to "fostering an active and vibrant transatlantic community by deepening the commercial, social, cultural, scientific, and educational ties that bind us". It was officially approved in June 2001 and runs until August 2003.
  • the MIER project, Innovative preventive measures in the face of possible restructuring operations, brings together the CGT and CFDT of Rhône-Alpes, the CGIL and CISL of Lombardy and the Info-Institut of Saarbrücken. The project sets out to capitalise on the synergies offered by European trade union plurality, noting that the impact of restructuring operations in regions and territories is obliging trade unions to define new methods of action.
  • EUROTRAMA - Intercultural Communication Skills for Trade Unionists and managers
    Eurotrama is a Leonardo da Vinci funded project, started in January 2000 and finished in May 2002. The continuation of the project is foreseen in the framework of the Leonardo Call for Proposals 2002. The project aims to facilitate intercultural relations and to improve the intercultural communication skills of Trade Unionists and Managers in a multicultural environment.
  • SOLCO - Key competencies for local economic growth
    The SOLCO pilot project "Key competencies for local economic growth" is funded by the European "Leonardo Da Vinci" programme (phase II). It was officially approved on 19th September 2001 and will be terminated in December 2003. During this period, RSO and its European partners will study a number of experimental models representing relationships between small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and micro-enterprises and key players in the local economy. The aim is to orient those relationships toward competitive growth in the partners' territories.
