ETUE-net II Project

ETUE-net II (European Trade Union Education Network II) is an extension of the previous highly successful ETUE-net project.  It aimed to increase the use of computer-based communication within European trade unions.

ETUE-net II has trained trade union tutors from 11 European countries about using the Internet, in the first stage of a cascading process of training courses. Supported by specialised materials and resources, tutors who have participated in these courses then go on to train other tutors in national organisations and to deliver courses to other trade union officers and representatives.

ETUE-net II is targeted initially at trade union tutors because they are pioneering the use of new technologies in their work.  They also play a crucial role in promoting the modernisation of communications within trade unions and in providing training in using these new media.

ETUE-net II has also developed a World Wide Web site devoted to European trade union education, which offers

·         information about courses, conferences and projects

·         information about training materials and resources

·         the EU Information Service, providing news of calls for project proposals and other EU funding sources, together with help on developing proposals and finding partners

·         links to other WWW information resources on trade unions and related topics

·         on-line discussion forums.

ETUE-net II began in January 1999 and finished in June 2000. Co-ordinated by the European Trade Union College, the project brings together 23 partner organisations from 11 countries and is supported by the European Commission’s Telematics Applications Programme.
