ETUCO's training package Europe United! is designed to help trade unionists understand some of the basic issues involved. The package contains three complementary elements, which can be used separately or together, depending on the training context and the needs of the particular target group.


The video (26 minutes) is designed to introduce participants to the concept of enlargement, and to the many issues involved, including employment, social dialogue and the free movement of labour, as well as the changes necessary within the European Union itself to make enlargement work.


The briefing paper provides essential background information, and explains why this particular enlargement is special, before going on to examine the different steps in the process in more detail. It then looks at the social advantages and disadvantages, and at possibilities for trade union cooperation.


The accompanying training module is divided into five units, which highlight key points for discussion and suggest a range of activities, which are informed by both the video and the background briefing paper.
