Intersectoral courses – Training future European trade union leaders


Training future European trade union leaders 2005 – 2006 Week I and Week 2 (6 days)

Aims

To understand and analyse recent developments affecting the European trade union movement, particularly as regards:

  • the structures, policies and roles of trade union confederations and their affiliates in Europe
  • the structures, policies and roles of the European Trade Union Confederation and the European industry federations
  • the structures and policies of the European Union particularly in the light of the Single European Market and the Treaty on European Union
  • significant European industrial relations issues (representation of workers, collective bargaining, pay and working conditions, equal opportunities, etc.)

To acquire a range of operational skills by enabling course participants to:

  • lay the foundations for learning a common foreign language for communication (English or French)

To learn how to influence and support decision-making at EU level

To carry out a project in a multilingual and transnational group using strategic management techniques

To gain an understanding of cultural differences
